Port IsaacPortwenn‘, the village in the popular TV series, Doc Martin is actually the quaint harbour of Port Isaac. This medical comedy-drama starring Martin Clunes concluded on its tenth episode in July 2022, but it is still a big hit among its fans, after 18 years of filming in this Cornish fishing village.

If we have Martin Clunes fans among us then we will also see the set locations for the 2000 film, Saving Grace which was the inspiration for his later role as Dr Martin Ellingham.

Suggested Tour Itinerary

For half of the day explore this acclaimed fishing village, visiting the school where Louisa is headteacher, Mrs Tishell’s Pharmacy, and of course the Doc’s surgery. We could stop for lunch in the Golden Lion pub and take in the views on the famed balcony.  The other half of the day we can explore the rugged North Coast. Driving through Port Gavern, home to PC Penhale, and then onto to Tintagel to visit St Materiana’s Church, which provided the venue for PC Penhale’s disastrous wedding. While in Tintagel, visit the old post office which was built in 1380, and then onto the English Heritage site of Tintagel Castle and Merlin’s cave.
